A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
