Around 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, producing strong winds reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Locals witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Victoria's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 households in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
State Emergency Services received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

At the height on yesterday, in excess of 28k energy customers in the state were without power.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a atmospheric system continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk expected across different parts of both regions.

Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
